What is Regho?
Regho is a time-tracking app developed by Printec that makes it easy to record your employees' working hours and comply with the law. Your staff clock in, take breaks and clock out from their phone, tablet or computer, and you manage employees, schedules, work centres and reports from one place. You can also try it free for 30 days, and it has one of the most competitive prices on the market, if not the most competitive.
Is time tracking mandatory for companies?
Yes. Since 12 May 2019, article 34.9 of the Spanish Workers' Statute requires every company, whatever its size or sector, to record the daily start and end time of each employee's working day. Records must be kept for 4 years and be available to employees, their representatives and the Labour Inspectorate. Failing to comply can lead to fines.
I'm self-employed. Do I have to clock in?
No. Time tracking protects employees, so if you are self-employed and work alone you are not required to clock in. Even so, tracking your hours helps you stay organised and know how much time you spend on each client.
I'm self-employed and have an employee. Do they have to clock in?
Yes. As soon as you hire someone you become an employer, and the time-tracking obligation applies just as it does to any company: your employee must clock in and out every day. You, as a self-employed person, don't have to.

When will digital time tracking become mandatory for companies?
There is no set date yet. The Spanish Government is preparing a royal decree that will require time records to be digital, but it has not yet been approved or published in the Official State Gazette (BOE). In the meantime, current law already requires you to record every employee's working hours each day, keep those records for 4 years and make them available to your employees, their representatives and the Labour Inspectorate on request. Keeping 4 years of records on paper or in spreadsheets is hard to maintain and easy to lose.
